Terms of Use
Effective July 24, 2026
The deal
Town Stoic is a free app that shows you one stoic quotation a day and lets you keep private notes about it. Use it for anything lawful and personal. There's no account to create, so there's nothing to terminate: delete the app and we part as friends.
Your notes are yours, and your responsibility
Town Stoic stores everything locally on your device. Back up your device the way you normally do; if the device goes, the notes go with it.
Not advice
The quotations are two thousand years old and the plain-language meanings are provided for personal reflection. None of it is medical, legal, financial, or life advice.
The texts
Quotations are reproduced verbatim from public-domain English translations: George Long's Meditations and Discourses, Thomas Wentworth Higginson's Enchiridion, and Richard Mott Gummere's letters of Seneca. Each card's source is shown in the app. The plain-language meaning lines are original to Town Stoic.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Moses Smith is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
Tips
The tip jar is a voluntary in-app purchase processed by Apple under Apple's own terms. Tips are gratuities: they unlock nothing, and they're non-refundable except as Apple's policies provide.
App Store
Town Stoic is distributed through Apple's App Store, and your use is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
